Norfork Lake fishing and lake conditions by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat rental (click here for comments)

Nice limit caught this morning.Image title

The lake level is 564.51 and has risen 6-inches in the last 24-hours. We received about 1-1/2 inch of rain last night at Blackburns with varying amounts around the area and a little under 2-inches in town. We needed it badly and it really greened things up nicely. At least they did not stop generating when the rain started like they usually do. We received a little less than the average rainfall for May and the springs rains were not excessive but the policy of hold and hope resulted in the lake being up 12-feet from normal. What ever that is. We should be at 552 no matter how they manipulate the numbers. The lake is in excellent condition for boating and swimming but some day-use facilities and camping areas are not open. Most resorts have no diminished services. Fishing is still pretty good with walleye and bass being the best and red meat fish next. A lot of fish are still in the brush on the old shoreline or just outside of it. I will check for the thermocline conditions soon and let you know. Surface temperature is now at 85-degrees and the main lake is clear and the creeks are stained a bit . Spooning is the best lure and there is still some early top-water action. Blackburns still has the best prices on both cabins and boats and the biggest pool. Come on down. We will not charge you too much. All of our cabins are individual with no duplexes and all have covered porches. You can sit out on the porch in the evening with no mosquitoes. That is nice.
