Norfork Lake fishing and lake conditions by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat rental (click here for comments)

The lake level is 562.09 and still rising with very little generation. They are still running Table Rock even though it is below normal. Newport level is 15 ft. and they could be generating a lot more if they wanted to and are missing a good chance to at least hold levels. The lake surface temperature is still in the high 50's and is very stubborn about raising. The main lake is clearing but the creeks are not. The new things that have just happened are the crappie have moved to the banks in the back of the creeks and are biting well on grubs, jigs and minnows, big ones too. The spawn is just starting. The carp have moved to the back of Blackburns creek and are everywhere and they too have begun spawning. Good time for bow hunters. Flatheads have moved to part way back in the creeks and feeding on shiners and perch. Smaller white bass are everywhere and schooled. Go to point 6-B and look around in 40-45 ft of water 25-ft. down.  Hundreds were also caught yesterday on the spoon and rooster tails. Soft plastics are working for walleye and they are on the main lake near points but not on them in 20-ft.  Bass fishing is just fair and the night bite for stripers is over and was not very good anywhere. When the shad spawn the top water bite will start.  This usually happens April 15th and is late as is everything else. A lot of fish were caught yesterday.
