Norfork Lake fishing and lake conditions by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat rental (click here for comments)

The lake level is 559.42 and is rising much slower with one generator running for the last 24-hrs. They must have located the on and off switch. We need both on.The lake is clearing, mostly near the shore and the surface temperature is still in the mid 50's as it has been for several weeks. It just will not warm up. There is to be some very cold nights coming up and it is not likely to rise anytime soon. This is for you Bass Catters whose tournament is the 13th and 14th of this month: Bass fishing is really picking up. I and several others are catching both largemouth and Kentuckys in creeks just off the main lake inside points near the bank. Some good ones too. Smallmouth have slowed way down from where it was.  I am convinced you will catch a lot of fish. I am using a small grub as usual but many are using texas rigged plastic worms. There are always the crankbait fishermen. The fish are full of eggs but I do not expect many of them will be on beds by the 13th or not nearly as many as usual. A lot can change before then though but the ambient temperature is to be below normal for several days with cold nights, very cold. Our normal high is 67 and low is 44. Water clarity is very stained but there is no brown water. The weather is still rollercoasting with a lot of cloudy days. Good luck. Blackburns still has two cabins available and has the best prices unless you just want to pay too much elsewhere. 870-492-5115. The night bite for stripers is on. Get out early in the evening to get the good places. A lot of people know where they are. Make sure your stick bait is running true. 5-inch suspending. Walleye are biting on shadowy banks before dark on soft plastics. The Cystic Fibrosis bass tournament is this Saturday. These boys know to catch pre-spawn bass and put on a good tournament. Very good cause. I bet they do well. 16-lb. Prediction.
