Scuba Steve From Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental On Norfork Lake Arkansas Near Mountain Home in the Ozark Mountains Blog. (Click Here For Comments)

The lake level is 568.78 and dropping about 2-1/2 inches in a 24 hour period. There is light generation most of the day and the level at Newport is below 12 feet. Some of the beaches are just starting to show up as are guard rails to causways.  The surface temperature is 87 degrees and you can see about 3-feet down on the main lake. I like a level of 560 for fishing but it does not leave much buffer for a big rain. It is getting dry again here but much greener than a normal August. My garden is doing great and it is a good year for tomatoes and peppers. We are in for some cooler weather starting tomorrow. I caught some nice bluegill yesterday shallow in brush on crickets for the pond. Stripers are biting well on jigging spoons 50-60 feet down whether on the bottom or suspended near thumb point. Bass are biting with black light and saltcraws near Cranfield island after dark. The lake is dropping too quickly for trotlines but drop shotting jugs with multiple hooks with live bait is working for channel cats. The lake in general is in good condition. The lake was quiet yesterday afternoon with light boat traffic. Blackburns has a cabin open tomorrow for $75/day with a free boat stall 870-492-5115 and it has a covered porch like all of our cabins.
