The lake level is 553.12 and has dropped 1/2 inch in the last 24-hours with one generator running for 4-hours. We are dry with a burn ban on and one big rain away from burning up. The fishing is not ready to explode but should remain the same until later in October. Thanksgiving is Scuba Steve's favorite time to fish. At least the hot spell broke and weather conditions are excellent.We could get some rain later this week. The surface water temperature is 84-degrees  and the water is the same from the surface down to 32-feet. The White River at Newport is 1.84 feet and about ready to dry up. There are several fish in the 25-ft. range but mostly Kentucky Bass and Crappie. Spoons are the lure of choice. Catfish are biting off docks in the evening. Fall foliage is changing color but only brown so far with the dry hot conditions. It will take a lot of rain and cool temperatures to have much fall color. If you do not water it it ain't growing. Things could change but leaves are already falling. It is beautiful here anyway and wildlife is abundant. Our big pool is still open. Blackburns is now on their off-season rates and you can get a 1-bedroom cabins for $69/day and a 2-bedroom for $89/day. Three and four bed rooms are priced accordingly. Compare prices and come on down. Blackburns continues to have the best resort with the best prices on both cabins and boat rentals in the Ozarks and are closest to Mountain Home dining and shopping.
