The lake level is 553.99 and is the same as at this time yesterday with no generation. The White River at Newport is 3.99 feet and very low. The surface water temperature is 88-degrees and the thermocline starts at 31-feet and gradually gets cold at 40-feet. The visibility has diminished with the high holiday boat traffic but should clear up again soon. Visibility on clay and dirt banks is poor but is better on steep rocky banks. It is sunny, dry and very hot and it has lasted a long time. Fish at the end of long main lake points where they drop off in the big rocks with a jigging spoon at 31-33 feet. Otherwise find the shad which are at the mouths of larger creeks in 40-50 feet of water at various depths. Overall the lake is in good condition and at a good level for fishing, swimming and boating. You need to be in the air conditioned cabin, swimming in Blackburns Big Pool or diving the lake to beat the heat during the day but we have all of those options here. It is not a good weekend for camping. Blackburns is now on our off-season rates and you can get a 1-befroom cabin for $69/day , 2-bedroom for $89d/day and 3&4 bedrooms priced accordingly. It will cool off soon and now is the time for a visit. Give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. It is nice here and the price is right. Scuba Steve will show you where his brush piles are located. Fishing season opens again on Tuesday. Scuba Steve closes it during holidays except for off the dock and does not like to join the madhouse. We sure have a nice group of people here this weekend
