The lake level is 555.06 and has dropped 1/2 inch in the last 24-hours with one generator running for 6-hours. The White River at Newport is 5.40 feet and low indicating there is not much power demand in the Southwest Power distribution area. Otherwise they would be making some free electricity. The surface water temperature is 90.5 degrees and is about like bathwater. The thermocline is 33-feet with good visibility down to 27-feet and clear again at the thermocline. Several fish of different species are near 27-feet near and around brush. Others are in open water on shad at 45-50-ft. Oxygen levels are adequate since the lake did not flood out this year. It would have if we did not miss all of the big rains that were all around us. If got close. After dark blacklight fishermen are doing well on Bass. When the lake gets just below the top of the power pool and the electric company manages the generation they cut way back to almost nothing every time. Then the lake rises up again past the power pool and the Corps of Engineers take over and open spillway gates to lower the level wasting money. We definitely need to have someone else  manage the lake levels. The Corps Of Engineers are a dinosaur and need to be disbanned and put under the Department of Interior. A good rule is to fish the banks and points that the wind has been predominately blowing into. The wind has been blowing from the south for several days with the high pressure and hot weather. Spoons are the best lures. The lake boat traffic is low and will continue until the Labor Day fiasco begins and will get even lower after that.
