Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mopuntain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region Fishing Report and L:ake Condition by Scuba steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

The lake level is 554.50 and down just a bit in the last 24-hours with one generator running about 5-hours and about a quarter of an inch of badly need rain. The surface water temperature is 87-degrees and the thermocline is 31-feet but not very pronounced.  There is a mud line at 29-feet but not bad. Visibility is great for the end of August for scuba diving and the Crappie are moving to the main lake brush piles at 30-feet. Bass are schooled and roaming, especially Kentucky Bass. Walleye are at the end of main lake points in big rocks at 32-feet. Fishing is pretty good for the end of August and the lake is in excelent condition for both diving and fishing. Scuba Steve does both. White Bass, smaller Stripers and very few Hybrids are in open water on shad in about 50-ft. of water suslended at the mouth of creeks. The too many guides keeping too many fish trying to impress their customers have really cut down on the number of Hybrids.The l;ake cannot support the number of guides that we have now but they come and go. Bluegill are on the top of brush in 30-ft. of water. When in doubt drop a spoon.  The hot weather persists and is not going away any time soon. Scuba Steve does not like cold but loves Norfork Lake winter fishing. Thanksgiving is a good time for a fishing trip.
