Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region Fishing Report and Lake Condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

4/23/2026

The lake level is 551.64 and is the same as it was at this time yesterday. The lake level and water temperature has been with in a couple of degrees and a few inches for about three weeks and is now 68-degrees and on a slow rise. Good for catfishing.  The lake is clear and at a good level and color for fishing. It is too clear way down by the dam. No sense wasting gas to get there.  The best fishing is in the Blackburns Creek area, Hensley's cove and Pigeon Cree and Briar Creek For Bass and Crappie. Scuba Steve can put you on the Crappie for free if you are nice. If you want red meat fish (temperate bass) wait until the wind has been blowing from the south for a couple of days and go to near the back Panther Creek for top-water. It is the best place and has been for years this time of year. Newbees do not know this. If the fish are coming up they will be there. The top-water bite is in full swing so keep a Spook Puppy tied on a stiff rod at all times.  After a cold front and the wind has been blowing fron the south for a bit go to the south facing creeks early and watch for top-water Bass and Stripers early and late. In the mean time when they go down keep a soft plastic 5-inch bass assassin or fluke on a weightless hook that comes up through the bottom and string it out and cast it out past them and let it sink slowly. This is a great time of year to come to Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental for a fishing trip. It does not get any better. If they go deeper drop a spoon below the wounded shad. Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental continues to have the best place with the best prices on both cabins and boat rentals in the Ozarks. You can launch here, park here and no need to go elsewhere. We have it all and at the best price. Compare prices and call Debbie at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. It is nice here and the price is right. Why Pay More? Scuba Steve will show you where his brush piles are located and he has some good ones. The $ you save here will pay for the high gas price. You do not have to go very far from Blackburns to catch fish,.
