The lake level is 551.33 and has risen 1.2 inches in the last 24-hours with no generation. The White River at Newport is 3.79 feet and about ready to dry up. They are letting the lake level creep up despite the drought conditions. They will not let out almost any water. They cannot say the spring rains caused the high water any more. If it happens it is because of how the lake level is being managed. The Corps of Engineers needs to be put under the Department of Interior and not be allowed to manage anything. They are idiots. It is raining now and we have received 1/2 inch of badly needed rain so far. Nothing serious and it will be gone soon. The lake overall is in excellent condition and at a good level for fishing and boating. Scuba Steve just got in at dark and the fish were in the backs of the south facing creeks in the warm water. It was just under 64-degrees on the main lake and over 66 back in the creeks. Things are changing everyday but fishing is good. The top-water bite is on in both the morning for bass in the backs of the windblown creeks Like Hensley's Scuba Steve continually caught bass on top water tonight. It was fun and he released all of them. He does not like to kill fish during the spawn so he releases them. I know the too many guides want to impress people on how many fish they can kill ebery day and hurt the lake by showing huge amounts of dead fish but you do not need them now. Even a novice can catch them. Save $650/day and stay at Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental and Scuba Steve will help you for free. The guides charge for a fishing report and will not give a guarentee that if you do not catch fish you do not pay. They show pictures of hough amounts of dead fish but it is phony. Compare prices. Some claim to have been here for Many a year and are just recent transplants from places like Michigan. They just want $. But what we do have is you can catch fish on Norfork Lake without spending $650 dollars. You can stay at Blackburns for a week and Scuba Steve will help you or you can fish off the dock.Everybody is catching fis. No sense in wasting your money on guides. Scubq Steve will help you. The top-water bite is the best early and about 5-PM. Beat the banks untill you see them and cast a Spook Puppy just past them Things are good
