Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in The Ozarks Mountains Fishing Report and Lake Condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental

3/6/2026

The lake level is 547.09 and has risen 6-inches in the last 24-hours with no generation. They always quit generating when it rains. Bryant Creek at Tecumseh is now dropping and is 5.81 feet. It normally is just over 4-feet and was near 8-feet this morning early. It's level tells you how much Norfork is going to raise. We only reveived 1.4 inches of rain total but it came fast and run off on Wednesday afternoon. The creeks ran hard and were muddy but are clearing nicely and are a good color for fishing. The surface water temperature is 53-degrees and rising. There is no frost scheduled in the near future but we are to get more rain tomorrow and Tuesday. The main lake is very clear and Scuba Steve could see the bottom in over 12-feet of water. There are reports of fishing being on fire and in a feeding frenzy but the guides always say that when they want business. Ask them if they have a policy of no catch limits no pay. Scuba Steve is catching some nice fish but it is not easy. Fishing is just fair. Bass and Crappie are the best bites so look part way back in the windblown creeks near brush in about 20-feet of water at various depths. The ones I caught yesterday were down about 15-feet. The larger Crappie minnows are working the best for Crappie on a slip float and a few Bass and Small Spoons and grubs for Bass. Cloudy days are the best with winds from 5-10 MPH from the south. Overall the lake is in excellent condition and at a good level for fishing.  Now is the time to book your spring fishing trip and family summer vacations. The best time for fishing is the middle of April to the middle of June and Scuba Steve will show you where his brush piles are located. You can launch right here and a free stall for your boat comes with a cabin rental of two days or more at our big dock with security system. Blackburns continues to have the best resort with the best prices on both cabins and boat rentals in the Ozarks. There will be no price increases for 2026. Compare prices and call Debbie at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. It is nice here and the price is right. We especially welcome Veterans and Police.
