BigCrappie on Norforklake. The lake level is 550.96 and has risen 1/2 inch in the last 24-hours with no generation for 2-days. The surface water temperature is 67-degrees this morning and will drop the next two days with the cold ambient temperatures. It is to be cold tomorrow, tomorrow night and then 60 on Tuesday and in the 70's after that. Scuba Steve needed to dig out his cold weather gear anyway. If you have not serviced your outboard lower units this year drop the lifts into the water for a couple of days. The water will cool much faster in the shallow creeks and near the shore so the fish are moving out deeper but on the same brush piles on main lake points. Look for the warmest water and slow down your lure presentation. Raise you spoon or jig slowly and let it fall on it's own weight. Use a 1/6th ounce jig head. Cast past the brush and keep them dropping as much as possible back to the boat reeling slowly and raising your rod. It will be green stingray grub fishing soon. The 1/8th ounce Bink's Spoon is working well now right in brush. Watch to make sure it does not hang up on itself. It is hard to tell with a light spoon and you are wasting your time if it is. Scuba Steve caught Walleye and Crappie in 14-feet of water in front of brush last evening and they had moved this morning to deeper water but in the same area. The White River at Newport is 4.41 feet and very low and about ready to dry up. The wade fishermen love it but not the boat fishermen. They let the put and take Rainbow Trout fish at the hatchery die this fall so there is a catch and release rule in effect from Bull Shoals Dam to the confluence of the Norfork and White Rivers at Norfork because they have none to stock this fall and winter. The meat hunters are sad. I guess there are some people that eat them. Scuba Steve says that White Bass are for people that cannot catch anything else on the lake and Trout are for people that cannot catch White bass. That should get them going.
