The lake level is 577.86 and has dropped 4-1/2 inches in the last 24-hours and 1-1/2 feet from it's high a little over a week ago. The White River at Newport is 22.28 feet and dropping and well within it's banks. The surface water is 79-degrees and the water is trying to clear. Blackburns Creek has no debris and is very good for swimming and fishing albeit high. There are still good places to launch and you can drive down to Blackburns Boat Rental's dock and step right on. The closest place to launch is Panther Bay which is newly expanded and refurbished and drive the boat to Blackburns dock for your stay. A free stall for your boat comes with a cabin rental of two days or more here. There is a lot of cover and a lot of bait from the excellent spawn but some nice fish are being caught everyday. Stripers, Bass, Crappie and Catfish are all coming in. Work the old shoreline around the brush with a small crank bait, soft plastic or spinner bait where you see the shad flipping. Some open water Stripers are on shad. Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental continues to have the best place with the best prices on bothn cabins an boat rentals in the Ozarks.
