The lake level is 553.84 and is up 1-1/2 inches in the last 24-hours with three hours of generation. The White River at Newport is 12.97 feet and dropping and Bryant Creek feeding the Norfork River at Tecumseh has not come up any so Norfork Should not rise much if they generate anything. We received 1/4 of an inch of rain last evening. It was windy but the severe weather went north of us. Power is out north of us and people were killed in the Bakersfield, Missouri area. The lake remains at a good level with good clarity and Scuba Steve could see his lure down about 6-7 feet yesterday. March fishing is not the best but the surface water temperature is 53-54 degrees depending on where you are. The Crappie Scuba Steve is catching are full of eggs with bloodlines so they are just waiting for the water to get past 60-degrees. I hope the lake level stays stable this year for a good spawn. The smaller White Bass are back in the creeks in Both Bennetts and Big Creek in 7-ft. of water and hitting swim baits. Walleye have finished spawning, Stripers are on their spawning banks in full swing right now and can be caught on a stick bait at dark. The Bass are in the warmest water part way back in the windblown creeks and hitting grubs and are the best bite. Scuba Steve is still catching some very large Crappie by dropping a medium sized minnow on a slip float slowly to the bottom near a brush pile and relling it up very slowly and jigging it a litle. Keep a lively minnow on. The full moon in March may be good for Striper fishing but not for much else with the cold fronts continually coming through and the incessant wind. You have to pick your times and be out there when they bite. It is not often. but some nice ones are being caught everyday. Now is the time to plan your spring fishing trip and family summer vacation. Top-water fishing usually has started by April 15th and gets better until about June 1st. Compare prices and give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. It is nice here and the price is right. A free stall for your boat comes with a cabin rental of two days or more. Blackburns is closest to Mountain Home, dining and shopping and you can launch right here. Scuba Steve will show you where his brush piles are located. He has some new ones and the others have been refreshed. We especially welcome Veterans and Police. Scuba Steve is a Veteran but does not require as much policing as he used to for some reason. I think that might be good.
