30 October 2024 Norfork lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region Fishing Report and lake Condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.
10/30/2024
The lake level is 551.60 and has been stable for the last few days with very dry weather and small generations. They run one generator from 4-9 PM yesterday and are scheduled to run less than one from 1-8 PM today. The White River at Newport is 1.4 feet and is as low as I have ever seen it. We have a burn ban on here but should get some rain later on this week. It has been very windy. It is to cool down on Thursday but the rain is not to start until the weekend. We need it badly. The lake overall is in excellent condition and at a normal level. The surface water temperature is 69-degrees and the water is clear in the creeks and very clear near the shore. The main lake is a little off color but fairly clear down to 30-feet. The visibility at that depth has deteriorated a bit but diving conditions are good. Some fish are in and around brush in 25-30 feet of water and others are deeper on shad in 40-45 ft. of water. Main lake points with brush are holding Walleye and Kentucky Bass and a few smaller Stripers. Small spoons and live bait are the best bait right now. I am not seeing nearly as many big Crappie as I usually do at the end of October but there are are a lot of throw backs just short. I am also not seeing nearly as many White Bass. Fishing overall is just fair but is getting better. We will see what November brings. It is usally a good month for fishing. Blackburns is still the home of the $69/day one bedroom cabins and $89/day 2-bedrooms. Compare prices. and a free stall for your boat comes with a cabin rental of two days or more. Come on down. We will not charge you too much. It is nice here and the price is right. Scuba Steve will show you where his brush piles are located when you get here.
