They are generating very light and holding Norfork up as high as possible for a long as possible for some unknown reason. The White River at Newport is 11.68 feet even after the rain. All other area lakes are below top of the power pool except Norfork. The water is very clear and the thermocline is at 26-feet with a surface water temperature of 82-degrees and has dropped from it's high of 88 a week ago. The lake remains in good condition for boating, swimming, Scuba Diving and fishing. Catfishing is very good on live bait with the rising water and little moon. Bass are in their summer pattern and are on brush in deeper water during the day and move in shallow to feed on crawdads at dark. The best fishing for them is with a black light, fluorescent line and a flourescent salt craw. Try the bank just northeast of Cranfield Island just north of the old road bed. A few crappie are moving to main lake brush but most are still in open water. Stripers are deep and by the dam and Walleye are around Robinson Island in 25-30 ft. of water. Spoons are the best overall bait for them. Bluegill are under willows and off docks on Crickets. Go out early, take the middle of the day off and go out at sunset.
