14 May 2024 Norfork lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region Fishing report by Scuba Steve from Blackburns resort and Boat Rental
5/14/2024
The lake level is 557.26 and has risen 3/4 of an inch in the last 24-hours and 3.62 feet in the last two weeks. They now have both generators in operation but are not running them very much. The White River at Newport is 12.03 feet and they are regulating it to 12-feet and not letting out much water anywhere. The main lake is clear and the creeks are stained a little green with a surface water temperature of 74-degrees. The water has been fairly stable this spring with no quick rises or drops and it has made for a good spawn for about all species. Most are finished now except for Flathead Catfish, about 1/2 the Crappie and Bluegill. Kentucky Bass spawn well into June. It looks to be a good future despite all of the fishing pressure. The top-water bite for stripers has been disappointing this spring but sporatic for Bass and White bass. The lake overall in in good condition and at a good level and fishing is as good as it gets for most species. The summer thermocline will form soon and the Walleye will move to main lake brush on points in about 16 ft. of water. The large crappie that have spawned and have moved to main lake brush with the bass fry and fingerling Bluegill.
