The lake level is 556.34 and is the same for the last 48-hours with no water being let out. the White River is 5.37 feet but it is not coming from Norfork. The Surface water temperature is 87-degrees and the water is clearing after the holiday churning and is clear down to 16-feet with a mud line starting there and continuing to the thermocline at 21-feet and it clears again in the cold water under that. There are not a lot of fishermen out there and the ones that are go out early, take the middle of the day off and go out again in the evening. The after dark bite for largemouth bass is pretty good with a black light and saltcraw just off steep banks with a ledge. They are in their normal places. Other bass are coming in shallow to feed on crawdads in the evening. Stripers are moving deeper and deeper with the warm weather and are biting the spoon if you drop it right on their heads. Some walleye are with them. Other walleye are around the thermocline with some Kentucky bass but not very big. Catfishing is getting better with the moon getting smaller and are biting live shiners and bluegill on drop-shotted jugs and throw lines. The flatheat bite has been pretty good but they are also mostly small. The bluegill bite is good under docks in the shade with crickets. Crappie are slow and spooky. Catch one and they are gone. They will move in on brush right after labor day in big numbers. Septermber is a good month for crappie. The lake overall is at a good level and condition for boating and swimming but fishing and diving is not the best but some nice ones are being caught everyday. Blackburns still has the best prices on both cabins and boat rentals in the Ozarks and will not charge you too much.
