It has been very stable for 2-weeks now with just a slow rise.  The White River at Newport is 12.53 feet and they are regulating to 12-feet. The surface water temperature is 70-degrees and the water is clearing and you can see your lure down 7-8 feet on the main lake and it is very clear near the shore. Overall the lake is in excellent condition and at a good level for both boating and fishing. There is a top-water bite most days now early at sunrise for both bass and red meat fish and it lasts much l;onger on cloudy days. The one in the evening is mostly bass part way back in the creeks. Several bass and crappie have spawned but several have not. Some are still on beds. Spawned out crappie are moving to brush piles at various depths. Bass fishing is the best with smallmouth getting better everyday on creature baits on shallow banks. Some large White Bass are surfacing along with some hybrids about the same size. Every once in a while a striper in the 15-lb. range is being caught. Fishing is about as good as it gets and catfishing is also picking up on live bait. Come on down to Blackburns and we will not charge you too much. A free stall comes with your cabin for your boat and we continue to have the best prices in the Ozarks for both cabins and boat rentals. Birds and other wildlife are everywhere. We especially welcome Veterans and Police.
