Cabin #12- 2-bedroom deluxe $85/dayThe lake level is 559.51 and has crested if they keep the one generator running continuously. The White River at Newport is 24.46 feet and has been stable for several days. They are letting out as much water as they can without flooding out people down stream. The surface water tmeperature is 51 degrees and is dropping slowly with the cool days and cold nights. There is a hard freeze warning for tonight and again later this week. The cold fronts just keep coming through slowing fishing just when it starts to get better. The water is stained and is about the same both on the main lake and in the creeks with much more clear water near the shore. You can see your lure down 3-4 feet. I am catching a few crappie on main lake brush but not a lot. There are also a few bass partway back in the creeks near the shore and some stripers are still spawning at dark right on the bank. Walleye are finished spawning and White Bass are not far behind. Fish of several different species are in open water on shad and fairly shallow in the 20-25 ft. range and can be caught with a jigging spoon or dragging live bait or umbrellas through the shad. I am casting a small grub or jig past the brush and letting it drop into it for bass and crappie. Fishing overall is just fair but some good ones are being caught everyday. Blackburns will have no price increases again this year on anything and you can get a 1-bedroom cabin for $59 that comes with a boat stall for free. Give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. If you are already in the area stop by and check us out. We will not charge you too much.
