27 January 2023 Norfork Lake Fishing Report and Lake Condidion by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental
1/27/2023
The lake level is 553.42 and is the same as it was at this time yesterday with both generators running for about 6-hours. The level has been very stable for several weeks. The surface water tmeperature is 46-degrees and has also been stable and has only had about 3-degree swings in a month or more with alternating warm and cold weather. The clarity has also been stable and you can see your lure down 4-5 feet on the main lake. Overall fishing has been fair to poor with fishing deep for White Bass and small stripers being the best with a spoon followed by crappie and bass in about 30-ft. brush. Using a 3/8th ounce spoon and tapping bottom for white bass on flats in 55-ft. of water is catching several fish if you know where they are. The best bite for crappie and bass is in the evening at sunset when they come up shallow to feed behind brush near the bank. You have to work hard for everything but some nice fish are bering caught every day. Open water trollers are catching a few but are dragging stuff a long way to find feeding fish on shad. I am using grubs and minnows, slipfloat with live minnows, 2-inch jigs, 3-inch flat tailed grubs and small spoons and catching fish on all of them but not a lot on any of them. Blackburns continues to have the best prices on both cabins and boat rentals in the Ozarks and there will be no price increases on anything again this year and your first boat stall is free. We still have our policy of continued improvement with no price increase. Friends do not increase prices on friends.
