15 January 2023 Fishing Report and Lake Condition for Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.
1/15/2023
The lake level is 553.60 and has dropped 1-1/2 inches in the last 24-hours with one generator running most of the time. The White River is 10.37 feet and dropping and the surface water temperature is 49-degrees and dropping with the last cold spell. It is warming back up again. The clarity is good for fishing and you can see your lure down about 5-feet and the lake is in overall good condition. Small Stripers and White Bass have gone deeper and can be caught on the jigging spoon. Some Largemouth are with them You can also use the 3-inch avacado stingray grub exactly like the spoon for bass. The shad are schooling up more and the schools are getting bigger where they were scattered. Several schools are not holding fish but some are. Look for broken dots rather than black blobs with lines running through and drop the spoon right in them. Crappie and bass are on brush together during the day and can also be caught on the spoon and also a slip float with live minnow. They then move up shallow to feed in the evening at sunset until dark on windblown banks. Points with the wind blowing directly on them are best. Bluegill have slowed for some reason. White Bass are ready to spawn and walleye are a couple of weeks behind. Overall fishing is just fair but it can be good at times. Blackburns still has the best prices on both cabins and boat rentals in the ozarks and there will be no price increases on anything again this year. Come on down. We will not charge you too much and your first boat stall is free. We especially welcome Veterans and Police.
