The lake level is 554.20 and has dropped 3/4 inch in the last 24-hours with generation a little over 1/2 the time. They are not letting out much and the White River at Newport is 4.37 feet and very low. The surface water temperature is 80-degrees and dopping slowly. Our ambient normal high is 79. It has been much warmer than that but is going to get back there this week. The new moon is today and that combined with the slowly dropping water is making for better catfishing. I am using  live bluegill on a short throwline back in the creek and doing quite well. They are all over under the dock and biting nightcrawlers on the bottom. Some Scuba Divers are finding some laying on logs in brush. Crappie fishing is picking back up after a few days of them moving back out in open water on shad with the very hot weather raising the water temperature last week It is back down from 85- and the fish have moved back to the brush and should stay there for quite a while. There are a lot of fish on main lake brush in 25-30 feet of water including crappie, bluegill an Kentucky Bass. The small spoon is working the best but a slip float with a live minnow is also working. The jig fishing has not been the best. The Kentucky Bass are full of crawdads so they are feeding near the bank sometime or other. I am not getting very many walleye like earlier and the ones that I am catching are mostly short. It has been a good walleye year so far overall. Some White Bass are also just outside the brush suspended. The lake is clearing overall and is in very good condition and at a good level. Fall fishing looks to be good so far. There are a lot of fish in Norfork Lake. Come on down and we will not chatge you too much. Blackburns is the home of the $59/day 1-bedroom cabin and it comes with a free boat stall on stays of two days or more. Can't beat that and it is nice here. The fall foliage is starting to turn a little on the hillsides but is mostly from drought and not the season. It is still on track for a late October peak.
