The lake level is 555.40 and has dropped 2-1/2 inches in the last 24-hours with continuous generation with alternating one and one and one half generatoirs. We are now back into the power pool which is 555.75 feet after the 3-inch rain last week which raised the level a little less than one foot.  The lake is churned up after the holiday boat traffic and the run-off from the rain but will clear again as the water cools. The surface water temperature is now 82-degrees. The nights are getting cooler with lows in the high 60's but it still gets warm in the afternoon but not for as long with the shorter days. We are no linger in a drought and everything is very green. They are keeping the White River at Newport between 7 and 8 feet and were not letting out much water anywhere until yesterday and the lake had been dropping very slowly. We should be at below 552 this time of year but they refuse to drop the lake level. Several varieties of fish are on main lake brush piles in the 27-30 ft. range including crappie, walleye, bass, bluegill. The walleye are near the bottom and the others are suspended at various depths. You have to get down to them so a jigging spoon. grub or jig are all working. Catfishing is getting better on jugs and trot lines baited with live bluegill. You can also catch crappie on slip floats and live minnows directly over the brush and just above it. The big schools are back in the brush but are spooky and roaming but do not go far. Blackburns Resort brush piles are at perfect depths now and are holding a lot of fish. I am fishing nothing but brush. Blackburns is the home of the $59/day one bedroom cabins so come on down. We will not charge you too much and a free boat stall comes with your cabin on stays of two days or more. All cabins are individual with no duplexes and all have covered porches. We also have the best prices on boat rentals in the ozarks.
