The lake level is 562.52 and is dropping two inches/day with one generator running continuously as they are regulating the White River to 12-feet. The surface water is 90-degrees and it has been hot and dry. We have received 0.7 inches of rain so far in the Month of July. Summertime fishing is here with the thermocline dropping to about 23-feet and cold water at 30-feet. There is a mudline from about 20-feet to the cold water and then it clears after that. Many fish are in the mud line.There are a few ways to catch fish. One is to get out at 6:AM and look for shad suspended starting at about 30-ft. of water. They can be in any depth of water up to 100-feet but are mostly 30-45 feet down. Drop a spoon on their heads. These are bass, small stripers. Another group are on main lake points on brush in about 35-feet of water suspended just a few feet up and near the bottom. These are walleye, bass and some smaller stripers. The larger stripers are deeper and in the old river channel and not feeding much. Some Kentucky Bass are shallow and feeding on crawdads in the evening. The after dark bass fishermen using black lights and fluorescent line and saltcraws are doing well from about 9-11 PM in their normal places. Bluegill are under docks along with some catfish and the bluegill are biting crickets and the catfish prepared bait. Get out early, take the middle of the day off and then go out again about 7:PM. The lake is in excellent condition for boating, swimming and fishing. You can beat the heat by staying at Blackburns resort and Boat Rental. Go fishing early when it is still cool and then go swimming in the lake or in our big pool. Take a nap in the airconditioning until evening and then go for a pontoon ride and another swim in the lake. Have dinner and hit the pool again. The fishermen cah then bass fish again about 7:PM. All you need is a resort with good airconditioning and covered porch, a big swimming pool , big dock for fishing, getting out of the sun and to swim off of. The dock is the coolest place on the lake and the children spend hours there. Come on down. We will not charge you too much and a free boat stall comes with your cabin.
