The lake level is 567.70 and has dropped 3-1/3rd inches in the last 24-hours with both generators running for about 1/2 the time and one the rest. The lake is down about 5-1/2 feet from it's high of 573 on June 6th which was also the date of our last rain. We received 1/2 inch of rain for the month of June and it is very dry. The surface water temperature is 85 degrees and the water appears clear from the surface and is down to about 12-feet and then it gets cloudy down to the thermocline which is 20-feet and then it clears again in the cold water at 26-feet. Several fish are in the 20-ft. range including bass, walleye and bluegill with some White Bass suspended and roaming the area. Stripers and Hybrids are the best bite right now with the fish going deep and are near the bottom from 40-80 ft. of water and hitting the spoon. The bridge piers under the Hwy 101 bridge are getting fished very hard. There is a top-water bite some mornings early but are mostly bass. There are many fry of different species hanging around in the shallow warm water part way back in the creeks and the bass are feeding on them in the evening but are also biting on plastic worms and creature baits. They are mostly Kentuckies but some a re nice sized. Crappie are back in the creeks on wood in 25-ft. of water and also under docks in the shade. Try throwing a jig past the brush and let it sink into it. Overall the lake is in good condition for swimming, boating and fishing and the level drop is opening up more launching and parking areas. Come on down to Blackburns where a free boat stall comes with your cabin or you can rent one of our pontoon and bass boats at the best price on the lake. Sorry no dragging anything behind our boats and you must be in by dark. We will not charge you too much and you will like our big pool with slide and baby pool.
