The lake level is 572.94 and has dropped 1/2 inch in the last 24-hours with about 8-hours of running both generators. This is the first drop in several months. The White River at Newport is 14.15 and rising slowly with a little more water being let out of the area lakes. The surface water temperature is 77 degrees and the visibility is very good on the main lake and a little stained in the creeks. Crappie fishing is picking up again as is Black Bass. Bass are both on the old shoreline before the lake rise and are hitting plastic worms and are also in open water on shad and spoons are working on them. Catfishing has slowed as has the top-water bite. Some stripers and White Bass are being caught in open water dragging umbrellas and live bait through shad. Walleye are around both Cranfield and Robinson Island and can be caught dragging nightcrawlers or spooning in 20-25 ft. of water. Crappie are in the backs of the creeks on shallow wood in 20-25 ft. of water biting and are biting small grubs tipped with small minnows and Bobby Garland Blue Ice Baby Shad on the drop. Big Bluegill are biting crickets and small spoons in the backs of creeks on willow bunches and under docks. Fishing is fair to good overall. It is to get hot next week and good for swimming and boating. Come on down to Blackburns where we have the best prices on both Cabins and boat rentals and a free stall comes with your cabin. All cabins are individual with no duplexes and all have big covered porches. No need for tents and umbrellas.
