The lake level is 570.21 and has risen 2-1/2 inches in the last 24-hours with about 8-hours of running one generator. It has been hot and dry with wind so a lot of drying has taken place in the last several days and most of the slug of water has moved through the system except what was held back and that was a lot. The surface water temperature is 73-74 degrees and rising with sunshine and record high temperatures. We have gone directly into summer. The water is very clear and you can see your lure down several feet. The flathead catfishing has been very good for about two weeks on live bait but has slowed just a bit with the blues and channels moving into the creeks. The top-water bite for bass and stripers is happening most days at just before and at sunrise so keep a top-water lure ready at all times. Most bass and crappie have spawned but not all. They have had to move their nests several times due to rising water and some are still full of eggs. Crappie can be found around most every brush pile and dock from 25-35 feet of water. Some bass are feeding on the bank on crawdads lizards and creek minnows. Overall fishing is good and most everyone is catching fish of some species. This is the best combination of weather and fishing for all year so come on down. Blackburns just had a cancellation for two cabins for Memorial day after being booked full for several months. Give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 and fill them. We will not charge you too much and a free boat stall comes with your cabin or you can rent one of ours. Our big pool is nearly full and will be ready tomorrow. Compare prices. Why pay more?
