The lake level is 552 even and is dropping slowly with a surface water temperature of 43 degrees and the water is fairly clear and you can see your lure down about 6-feet. We received about 8-inches od snow and a little sleet starting wednesday afternoon but it was not too bad. The snow was very light in weight and fluffy and we avoided the ice. We had no power outages and it did not cause much trouble. It was our second snow of the season and was more than the other one January 6th. It dropped the lake water temperature a little over three degrees in Blackburns area. I took a day off from fishing and then went out everyday since. The sun has been shining and the ambient temperatures are in the high 40's with 50's for next week. The average high is 47 and rising. The snow is going away fast with some bare spots already. Bass and crappie are the best bite but some stripers were being caught earlier but no report of any the last few days. This is about the time they hide. A few walleye are showing up but not many. The big bluegill and catfish have slowed way down. Some white bass are being caught on the spoon with a few larger ones mixed in with the small ones. The fishing was the best that it has been in weeks just before the last cold front. I went out on tuesday the first day of february and the fish were biting almost at will, especially largemouth bass and big crappie. Cloudy, warm days with light wind just when the low pressure gets here are just what I wait for. Stay until it rains you out because if it is also a cold front fishing will go downhill quickly and not get much better until the high pressure has been around for a while. The lake in general is in excellent condition but I just wish it was lower going into the spring. Come on down to Blackburns. We will not charge you too much and your first boat stall is free unless you bring the Queen Mary. We are open all year and there are no price increases for 2022.
