The lake level is 553.79 and has dropped 3-inches in the last 24-hours with generation about 3/4ths the time. We are approaching the power pool of 553.75 and we will see what happens with the generation then. The White River at Newport is 11-feet and dropping. We had no ill-effects from the rain a week and half ago but the lake rose over 3-feet to 554.82 but has dropped a foot since then. The surface water temperature is 57 degrees and stable with the warm weather which is to go away after this weekend. The lake overall is in excellent condition and a good color for fishing. The creeks are stained a little more than the main lake. You can see your lure down about 4-feet. Live bait trollers are catching several stripers in the 5-8 pound area and more white bass are showing up with some of them pretty good sized. Most are still small. Some walleye are with the white bass deep just off the bottom for some reason and I am not finding them on brush like before. Some catfish are still being caught which is pretty rare for almost January. They usually slow way down but the warm water is keeping them active. Crappie and Kentucky Bass fishing is pretty good on 25-35 ft. brush piles but they have slowed a little too. It was very good last week but you have heard that before. Cold fronts keep coming through once or twice a week slowing the bite but not stopping it. We have had wind most days but not so bad the last few. It was swirling and hard ot get out of. Fishing overall is fair now but there are moments of very good fishing but sometimes several hours of not so good. Find shad in open water, work the bank in 12-14 ft. of water in the evening and drop a spoon in brush for best results. Go to www.blackburnsresort.com and go to Scuba Steve's Blog for a daily report. I am out there almost every day.
