The lake level is 553.61 and has been very stable for about 5-weeks with just enough generation to keep it so. There is no effort to drop the lake for the winter. The surface water is 66 degrees and the lake turnover is just completed. The cooler than normal ambient temperatures are dropping the lake temperature steadily and the water is clearing. Temperate bass are all together and are on shad in open water at various depths along with some largemouth bass. Jigging spoons are working the best for them. Drop it right on their heads.  Crappie, Kentucky Bass, Bluegill and catfish are in brush from 20-40-ft. and some are moving to the bank in the evenings to feed. Jigs, small spoons and minnows on slip floats are all working in the brush. There are a lot of creek minnows and game fish fingerlings there. Crank baits and creature baits on jig heads on the bank. A few smallmouth are being caught and that bite will do nothing but get better as the water cools. The full moon is the 19th this month and it is typically time for late evening and after dark fishing on the bank for stripers on stick baits. This does not always happen but is worth a check. Time change is November 7th on Sunday morning so after that go out in the evening about 3:PM and fish until dark on the bank for crappie and Kentucky bass on a small jig tipped with a live minnow part way back in the creeks between the shore and brush. I use a 2-inch twister tail white in color on a white jig head with a red eye on 4-lb. clear line with no hardware. Other things work but this catches the most fish. Fishing will do nothing but get better as November progresses and Thanksgiving is an excellent time to catch fish. Blackburns still has the best prices on both cabins and boat rentals of any place in the area and is open all year. Your first boat stall is free. We especially welcome Veterans and Police. I am a veteran but not a policeman but have had a few encounters with them in the past of which none of them made me stupid enought to resist arrest.  Come on down to Blackburns, We will not charge you too much and it is a nice place.
