The lake level is 553.54 and is dropping very slowly. It has taken them 17 days to drop the lake one foot since the power company took over much of the generation schedule when we finally hit the power pool level. They must not need electricity anywhere. The surface water temperature is 77-degrees and the lake is stained just a bit but is a good color for fishing. You can see your lure down about 6-ft. on the main lake and 4-ft. in the creeks. Most fish are on the main lake from 0-40 ft. of water with none below 40-ft down no matter how deep the water is. I am catching bass, crappie, catfish and a few walleye on brush in 30-32 ft. of water near the bottom using both the spoon and jig. Blackburns brush piles are at the right depth finally and are producing. A few temperate bass are out a little deeper outside brush suspended 40-ft. down and can be caught on the spoon. Some larger bass are on steep banks right at the drop off near the bottom again at 40-ft. The top-water bite is pretty good for bass early on the spook puppy and spitin image. I caught my third tagged fish on a spoon on brush yesterday. I am really surprised how close they stay to the place where they are tagged and released. The lake is busy with bass fishermen with tournaments every weekend in October. They were pushed back because of covid but I think it is a good time for them. Most people are catching fish and the lake is in excellent condition. There are a lot of bait fish on the bank both early and late and the bank pounders are catching several but most are small. More bigger ones are coming out of deeper water. Come on down to Blackburns. We will not charge you too much and a one bedroom cabin is $59/day and comes with a free boat stall.
