The lake level is 567.87 and is dropping a little less than 2-inches per day with generation about 1/2 the time. The lake is clear and there is a thermocline at about 28-feet with a mud line there and a surface water temperature of between 87and 88 degrees and rising with the hottest weather of the season. The bass fishermen are catching several fish on worms and saltcraws in the late evening and others are catching about everything else on jigging spoon early. The bass in the evening are on steeper banks with a ledge and the early morning fish are on main lake near brush in 30-35-feet of water near the bottom. Walleye, bass and bluegill are the best bite now but some white bass and smaller stripers are also being caught on the spoon. Get out early, take the middle of the day off, and go again in the evening. It is typical late july fishing except the lake is much clearer than in previous years and is in good condition but at least 8-feet too high and the normal shoreline is in about 15-ft. of water. Fall fishing looks to be good if current conditions continue. Blackburns still has the best prices on both cabins and boat rentals and you first regular sized boat stall is still free. All cabins are individual with no duplexes and have covered porches so you can social distance. You can launch and park your boat trailer right here. We are not huddled up on a hillside and have plenty of parking and a big pool and green playground.
