The lake level is 564.50 and is still rising from last week's rain. There has been very little generation here with the emphasis on keeping Table Rock and Branson Landing from getting high and sacrificing the other area lakes. The White River at Newport is near flood stage preventing any other generation. Norfork has risen about 7-1/2 feet from it's low of 557 last month before the rains. The lake is still in pretty good shape though and fish are being caught everyday. Not as good as last month but people are still catching fish. Things that have changed are the quickly raising water has messed up the spawn but it had begun before it came up and the fry have a lot of cover to greatly help their survival. Most of the big stripers are gone and people are now showing off small ones because that is about all they can catch. Just a few over 15-lbs are being caught. Bass fishing has and continues to be good but like crappie, a lot of small ones are being caught now unlike a couple of weeks ago. Smallmouth bass are still biting pretty good. The best bite is bass, crappie, bluegill, small stripers, hybrids and walleye. The top water bite has started on sunny mornings but has not been as good as normal. Threadfin shad were spawning and I though the top water would have been better. Some White Bass are being caught but not nearly as many as a couple of years ago. Walleye numbers and size are really encouraging. There is some debris on the lake from the rising water but it has been a lot worse. There are still many places with clear water. If it would drop a couple of feet to stick stuff to the bank and slow down the rain we would be in good shape again. The lake surface water temperature is 65 has been stable for several days with cool nights.
