The lake level is 558.82 and is dropping about 3-inches a day with both generators running continuously for several days. It has dropped about 2-1/2 feet from it's high of just over 561. We have been very dry here but we did get just a bit of rain yesterday and it greened things and settled the dust. The surface water temperature is hanging in there stubbornly at about 60 on the main lake with mostly cool nights and varies several degrees depending on where and when you take it in the backs of the creeks where most of the fish are. All of the brown has finally settled out and the debris is gone and sticking to the banks with the dropping water. The lake overall is in good condition and a good color for fishing. Last week was not the best fishing but things are getting better every day. Everything is just starting. Top-water bite for white bass, stripers and bass at 7:Am or just before sunrise has begun on some sunny days. Bass and crappie are beginning the spawning process with males moving to the banks. Smallmouth fishing is very good now on 3-inch creature baits back in the creeks in the buckbrush. This should continue for several weeks. Norfork lake is an excellent smallmouth lake. Trollers are catchin some stripers but they are small. Crappie, bass and catfishing is the best with some walleye starting to come in. Work the windblown creeks. Mostly south facing ones. Go to this site and check out Scuba Steve's Blog for a daily report. Blackburns still has the best prices on both cabins and boat rental on Norfork Lake. $59/day for a one bedroom. Come on down. No price increases this year and we will not charge you too much. Do not pay for your first boat stall elsewhere.
