The lake level is 569.97 and is dropping about 3-inches a day with one generator running continuously and four spillway gates open one foot. It has dropped about 2-feet from it's high several days ago. The surface temperature has dropped again and is now about 62-63 and will drop again with the cold weather moving in now. The lake is clearing nicely and is a perfect color in Blackburns area for fishing. Most of the fish are on the old shoreline in cover. The shad have spawned and are flitting around everwhere. Top water bite is in full swing so get out there early with your clear spook and spitin image. If none are surfacing, use a 3-inch green plastic worm on a 5/16th ounce jig head. I am using a Bobby Garland blue ice jig for crappie. Some crappie have spawned, some are spawning and some are still on the beds. I have seen no fry yet. Carp are spawning the the very backs of the creeks. Catfish are biting on limb lines baited with perch near the surface in the brush. I have not found any bass that have spawned but they are close. Smallmouth bass bite is really picking up. We are catching good fish everyday. The lake in general is in very good condition for fishing.
