The lake level is 558.26 and was dropping about 2-1/2-3 inches a day with continuous generation until last night when we received some rain north of us. The surface temperature is 49.5 and rising with warm weather on the horizon.  Fishing has finally picked up a bit after several weeks of being fair to poor. Open water fish are hitting the spoon in 50-70 ft. of water with some suspended and some on the bottom. Some are trolling swim baits with a little success. Just a few big stripers are being caught and the white bass are small. Hybrid fishing is about normal but the numbers of big stripers (20-30 lbs.) are way down. A big striper is now 12-15 lbs. The fish seem to be shallower early and then move out to deeper water. You have to look hard to find feeding fish.  Crappie are biting but you have to wait for several hours with nothing and then they bite for about 5-minutes. They are very healthy and have blood lines in their eggs. Bass fishing on the bank was slow with mostly small fish being caught until just recently when the larger ones started showiing up. I caught a 4 pounder and a 5-pounder yesterday evening on the grub in 14-15 feet of water on the bottom. Walleye have ghosted me for a month. Bluegill fishing is slow as is all brushpile fishing. There is a lot of bait fish out there and many schools with no feeding fish on them. Game fish are having no trouble finding food. Fish are very fat overall. If I could choose a permanent lake level it would be where we are right now. The lake is stained green and you can see your lure down about 4-feet. Come on down to Blackburns. We will not charge you too much. Compare prices. Why pay more?
