The lake level is 553.68 and is dropping slowly with both generators running about 1/2 the time. The lake surface temperature is 49 degrees and the lake is stained. You can see your lure down about 3-feet. The lake in general is in excellent condition and the fishing is pretty good. Bass, crappie and bluegill are biting the best now and the jigging spoon is the best lure. I am catching some big fish everyday. Trollers are catching a few stripers and hybrids but not many. It is either feast ot famine with a lot of schools of shad not holding fish. When you find a school of shad feeding, fishing can be fast. I am fishing brush piles in 25-30 feet of water. Crappie and big bluegill are over the brush and the bass are in or just around it near the bottom. I am getting a lot of bites on the drop. White Bass and big walleye are scarce but some smaller ones are being caught of each. Bass fishermen pounding the bank are having mixed results but are catching several smaller fish with just a few keepers. Brush permits are being issued by the Corps of Engineers at 9:AM January 14th at their office. This is a good way to help fishing and the habitat.
