We received 3.3 inches of rain last evening and night and the creeks run heavily for a while. The backs of the creeks are muddy but not too bad. We were dry and a lot sunk in. The level raised from 553.26 to 554.15 and is still going up as they quit generating this morning. The surface temperature was 69 degrees last night when I came in. The top water fish are the best bite now with the best time to get them is just before sunrise. They are all over the lake depending on which way the wind has been prevailing. The shad follow the plankton and the open water fish follow the shad. Start looking on the bank where the wind has been blowing into. Depth does not matter much as the shad are being crowded to the top. Bink and I have been catching walleye on spoons in 16-26 feet of water on brush near the bottom. They are where they always are in May before the thermocline is formed and will be right at the thermocline later. Crappie fishing is not the best yet with a lot of small fish being caught before a good one. Larger bass have mostly spawned and are in their post-spawn period with the females getting healed up. Some good ones are on the banks with more in open water on shad. Bass top water on the banks is getting better every day. Smallmouth have slowed a bit. Bluegill are biting well and catfish has slowed a bit also with flatheads slowing and channels picking up. White bass are easily caught on top most every morning with Hybrids next and then stripers. Blackburns resort and Boat Rental has the best prices on both cabins and boats and we do not charge for most boat stalls. We have bass boats and fishing pontoons. 1-800-635-0526
