August 15,2025 Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home Scuba Diving Report by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

The lake level is 563.01 and has dropped 3-inches in the last 24-hours with less that one generator running since midnight. The White River at Newport is 13.54 feet and dropping with the reduced generation. The surface water temperature is 86-degrees and the weather is hot and dry with no relief in sight. The thermocline is 30-feet and there is a mud line from 23-27 feet with poor visibility but it is good at 30 in the cold water. A lot of fish are at 27-feet. go down in the cold water and look up and let the fish come to you. The fall Crappie have moved in to the tops of 30-ft. brush and several of Blackburns Brush piles are now finally in play. Scuba Steve will show you where when you get here.  It took all spring and summer to get the lake down and it is still 8-feet high but is getting at a good level now for spearfishing. Things should be very good a few days after the Labor Day madhouse and the water settles out again. It should be a good fall for diving.
