Charlene Tinnin, AKA Shorty, from Marquand, Mo. caught and released a 6-1/2 lb. bass yesterday off Blackburns Dock. She also caught a 5-pounder and released it also.
The lake level is 561.22 and has risen 3-inches in the last 24-hours. They started to generate yesterday morning but cut it off when the big rains hit the White River area in Yellville and Flippin. We received 1.4 inches early Wednesday here at Blackburns but much more in isolated areas nearby. Over 3-inches were reportred in Mountain Home while as much as 10-inches fell in Marion County at Yellville. Flippin also got a lot. Parts of downdown Yellville were evacuated. Crooked creek flooded and filled the White River and allowed it to back up into the Norfork River at the town of Norfork for about 1/2 mile. The water was brown and raging. Blackburns received another 0.7 inches of heavy rain lasr eveing about 6:30 PM but no wind. The Norfork is scheduled to crest on July 21st at 562.4 about 1-ft. higher than it is now. Bull Shoals is scheduled to crest on the same day about 3-1/2 feet higher than it was on Tuesday. It sure would have been nice if they had dropped the lake prior to this rain and prevented this high water instead of letting it happen. They had ample time to do so but refused. I guess they can blame everything on the rain again as they always do instead of incompetence. Norfork Lake is still clear with a surface water temperature of 84-degrees and a thermocline at 29-feet. Scuba Steve got a couple of nice walleye yesterday eveing on a main lake point at the thermocline just prior to the rain. Others caught some nice bass in Float Creek. Bink got rained out in the early morning. A lot of fish are in open water in about 50-55 feet of water 30-35 feet down in front of the docks at Mallard Point. They are catching some big fish off Blackburns Dock.
