The lake level is 552.12 and has dropped just a bit in the last 24-hours with one partial generator running for four hours. The White River at Newport is 2.32 feet and very low indicating not much water is being released anywhere. The surface water temperature is 75-degrees plus and has risen a couple of degrees in the last week with the warm sunshine and light winds, We are dry and could use a couple of inches of slow rain with no wind. The visibility has diminished as the water warms again and it is not good for Scuba Diving but is a good color for fishing. The lake overall is in excellent condition for boating and fishing with several boats out there but fishing is just fair. It was getting better and will again as the water cools and clears. Kentucky Bass and Crappie continue to be the best bites on or around main lake point brush piles in 25-30 feet of water. There are several open water fish in 75-feet of water at the opening of larger creeks at various levels on shad. Drop a spoon. They are finicky and moving. The larger schools of big Crappie have not moved in the brush yet but there are some in the 11-12 inch range roaming from brush pile to brush pile. They are spooky so you have to keep moving after you catch one or two. They do not go far. Nice sized Kantucky Bass are everywhere and are on about all brush at various depths. Beating the bank is not producing many good fish. Some shad are starting to move a little bit back in the major creeks. Use live minnows on a slip float for Bluegill and Crappie and a 1/2 ounce Bink's Spoon in the depper water. 1/4 ounce in the brush.
