The lake level is 555.70 and has dropped 1/2 inch in the last 24-hours with one generator tunning for about 6-hours. They cut way down on generation when we dropped below the top of the power pool of 555.75 and the Electric Company took over generation. They like it high. With the way the lake is managed I think they must all be high. They should have left to top at 552 before they started messing with it. The surface water temperature is 89-degrees and the thermocline is at 31-feet. It is very clear down to 21-feet. The White River at Newport is 7.71 feet and getting low again. Not much is being released anywhere despite the hot weather and electricity demands. Overall the lake is in excellent condition for boating, swimming, fishing and diving. Boat traffic is low during the week but gets fairly heavy during the weekends. The Stripers and larger Walleye are moving deep and are being caught on spoons. Bass are biting after dark on black lights, flourescent line and saltcraws on the first drop-off on steep banks feeding on crawdads. Some Crappie and Kentucky Bass are on and around brush in 30-feet of water. Catfish and Bluegill are biting off Scuba Steve's Dock.
