The lake level is 558.09 and has dropped just a bit in the last 24-hours with one generator running continuously and spillway gates open just a trickle for about 8-hours a day. There is no effeort to drop the lake despite the dry weather. The White River at Newport is at 10.27 feet and dropping quickly. We have been so lucky to have missed the heavy rain that has hit southern Missouri and eastern Arkansas and still be at a good lake level. It sure is not due to the Corps Of Engineers managing the lake. We need someone smarter managing the lake levels Like A.I. These guys are idiots. If one of those rains had hit Norfork we would have been flooded out but fortunately we are in good condition, at the lake, at the dock and the resort. Things could not be better and the prices on both cabins and boat rentals could not be lower. The surface water temperature is 89-degrees and the thermocline starts at 25-feet and is cold at 40-feet. Look for fish on windblown points in 40-ft. of water at various depths. It is typical July Fishing. Best bite is after dark with black lights and salt craws for bass on steep bank dropoffs. Boating and swimming are excellent and the boat traffic is low. Come on down and do not pay too much. Call Debbie at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. It is nice here and we will not charge you too much. Scuba Steve still knows where the fish are located.
