Caught on the Bink's Spoon.
Caught on the Bink's Spoon.

The lake level is 558.62 and is up 2-inches in the last 24-hours with 2.6 inches of rain in the last two days and only 9-hours of running one generator. The White River at Newport is 10.75 feet and normal and there is plenty of room to let out more water. They are determined to flood us out before the summer is over. 560-is too high and we are less than 1-1/2 feet from getting there. They cannot blame too much rain on this one. They have had many chances. We need different management. These guys are idiots. The surface water temperature is 82-degrees and the thermocline is at 25-feet with cold water after that. There is a mud line starting at 23-feet but visibility is good to there. Diving conditions are good. Fishing remains good for as late in the year as it is. There are more Crappie on brush piles than in previous years when they usually get scarce and move to open water it mid June as do the larger Walleye. Not this year. The best places are on wind-blown main lake points on brush piles in 18-30 feet of Water. Drop a 3/8th ounce Bink's Spoon. The lake remains in excellent condition and at a good level for boating, dragging over-weight children around on chaise lounges, jumping wakes and over-reving your motor, driving over dive flags with jet skis, cutting off fishermen between them and the shore, swimming and fishing. Everything is very green and the flowers are blooming and the grass is growing. Catfishing is good off docks after dark and on jugs with live bait. More Bluecats are showing up this year than in the last few. Scuba Steve is glad they are back and the Walleye population is better and bigger than ever. Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental continues to have the best resort with the best dock, the biggest pool and the most parking in the area. We are not jammed up on a hillside. Compare prices and call Debbie at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. It is nice here and we will not charge you too much.
