The lake level is 556.36 and is up 1/2 inch in the last 24-hours with one generator running for three hours. It is raining hard now and the creeks are starting to run. The top of the power pool drops to 555.75 on Monday so maybe they will let out a bit of water. They like it high and we need different management. The White River at Newport is 5.04 feet and very low. The surface water temperature is 82-degrees and 79 at the top of the thermocline which is at 22-feet. The visibility is 5-feet down to the thermocline and very cloudy after that. There is not much of a thermocline back in the creeks and the visibility is not the best. The water in the creek is clear when the wind is from the north here at Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental and stains when it is from the south. The opposite is true for south facing creeks. Several big fish have moved to the main lake points in front of brush piles on windblown banks at about 16-17 feet including Bass and Walleye. There are a lot of Walleye and Largemouth Bass out there. Some Crappie are on top of the brush a little deeper but not big schools. Drop a spoon in and around main lake brush and you will catch some fish. I have not been chasing red meat fish as I am very happy with Crappie, Bass, Walleye and Catfish. I caught a Bluecat yesterday and it is the first one for a while. They used to be numerous but not now. Same is true for the Hybrid Stripers. Overall the lake is in excellent condition and at a good level for fishing, boating and swimming and it is a good time for a family vacation and fishing trip at Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental on Norfork Lake. We continue to have the best Resort with the best price on both cabins and boat rentals in the Ozarks. Compare prices and call Debbie at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. It is nice here and the price is right. We have it all and at the best price. No need to go elsewhere to launch or park and we are closest to Mountain Home, dining and shopping. Scuba Steve will show you where his brush piles are located.
