The lake level is 552.67 and has risen 3/4 inch in the last 24-hours with no generation. They are letting it creep up despite the very dry conditions. The White River at Newport is 7.65 feet and normal and at a good level also. The surface water temperature is 70-degrees and Scuba Steve could see his lure down 8-9 feet on the main lake. Less in the creeks as they are stained a little green but a good color for fishing. Stay out of the very clear water further south near the dam. You can beat the bank for some bedding Bass and spawning Crappie but most of the fish are part way back in the north facing creeks on Shad, The wind has been blowing from the north for three days and the plackton, Shad and Predator Fish are mostly going with the wind. Fish until dark and then hit the same place early next morning for the top-water bite. When they go down cast a Fluke or Bass Assassin on a worm hook past them and let it let it sink with a slow retrieve. Keep a top-water lure handy at all times. When they go deeper with the sun drop a spoon. There are a lot of just undersized Crappie out there but next year looks excellent. This year is not bad. Same with Bass. Hybrid Stripers do not look good. Scuba Steve is going to catch a few Flathead Catfish Soon. He likes them. Crappie, Kentucky Bass, Walleye, Bluegill and Flathead catfish are his favorites. You can keep the red meat fish but they are fun to catch but it is not good to kill dock floors and pickup beds full of them to impress people to get them to spend $600/four hours of Guide Fishing but there are a lot of meat hunters out there doing it. That is why Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental has two fish cleaning stations at our dock. Our customers catch more fish than anybody and do not have to wait in line. We also have the best place with the best prices on both cabins and boat rentals in the Ozarks and that is why we are so busy. Compare prices and call Debbie at 870-492-5115 for a reservation It is nice here and the price is right. Why pay more when you do not have to. If you are staying somewhere that you are nearly the only customer you are in the wrong place. Come on down and we will not charge you too much. We especially welcome Veterans and Police and the Thin Blue Line Flag and Old Glory fly proudy over Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental. Scuba Steve is a Veteran but does not need as much Policing as he used to for some reason. He makes up for it with other things. We will open the giant pool with slide and baby pool soon when it warms a bit. It is ready to fill.
