The lake level is 552.38 and has risen 1-inch in the last 24-hours with five hours of running one generator last evening and night. The White River at Newport os 8.81 feet and at a good level. The surface water temperature is 71-degrees and should drop a bit with the cool north wind. Bryant Creek is up a bit so the lake should rise a little more. The water is clear on the main lake and a little stained in the creeks but that changes with the wind velocity and direction and proximity to dirt and clay banks. It is time to move to the north facing creeks and move out of the south facing ones with the north wind to find fish. The plankton moves with the wind and the bait fish follow the plankton and the game fish follow the bait fish. Always fish where the wind has been blowing into especially if it has been for a couple of days. The ambient temperature is cooler and will slow down the top-water bite. Smallmouth Bass are pre-spawn feeding and there are some nice ones. Some Creppie are spawning, some are staging and some are spawned out. They will do this for another couple of weeks. Catfish are biting back in the creeks under docks on prepared bait and Flatheads are starting to bite on live Bluegill but are not there yet. The schooled fish are mostly small and and larger ones are scattered. Scuba Steve will help you when you get here. He has some good places. The lake overall is in excellent condition and at a good level for fishing and boating. Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental is also in good condition and ready for your visit.
