The lake level is 551.80 and has risen 1-1/2 inches in the last 24-hours with 1.4 inches of rain early this morning. The creeks are running and there is some brown water where the creeks enter the lake. They run one generator for four hours last evening. The lake has been very stable. The surface water temperature is 67-degrees and has also been stable within a couple of degrees for a few weeks. The water is very clear on the main lake and changes with the rain and wind in the creeks but is a good color for fishing. It is too clear down by the dam and there is no need to go there and waste gas to fish. Bryant Creek at Tecumseh is 4.34 feet and normal so the lake is not going to rise much more. Ovarall the lake is in excellent condition, at a good level and a good color for fishing. The top-water bite for Stripers and bass Happens most days so keep a Spitin Image for Bass and a Zara Spook for stripers rigged and ready. The best bites are early A.M and in the veening but they can come up anytime especially on cloudy days. Beat the bank part way back in the creeks with a whacky worm for bass and a spinner bait when it is windy. Most of the larger Crappie are scattered and the smaller ones are schooled and have not spawned yet but they all want to. East Pigeon, Pigeon and Briar creek are all holding fish. In front of Twin Coves is a good place for top-water Bass and in the back of Panther Creek is good for A.M. top-water stripers. Bluegill are under cover on brush and docks and biting crickets. Catfish are under docks part way back in the creeks and the Channels are biting prepared bait on the bottom and live shiners on jugs. Go to www.norfork.com for an article on how to catch catfish on Norfork lake.
