Don Katashuk with a nice Norfork lake Crappie. Good fisherman.

The lake level is 551.35 and is the same as at this time yesterday with three hours of running one generator. The White River at Newport is 3.03 feet and very low. Not much water is being released anywhere. The level has been very stable and is good for the spawn. There is a better survival rate in high water when there is more cover but this one will be just fine. The surface water temperature is 65-degrees and the water is clearing and is a good color for fishing. Scuba Steve could see his lure down about 7-8 feet on the main lake and less in the creeks and they change almost daily with the wind.  The water is very clear near the dam but the best fishing is in Blackburns area. No need to go way down there and burn gas. The top-water bite for about everything is in full swing on most days so keep a spook puppy tied on and handy. Day break and about 4:40 PM are the best times. Use a clear one on sunny days and a bone colored one on cloudy days. The rest of the time Scuba Steve is using a grub and minnow and beating the bank. Some Crappie are scattered and either staging or on nests and others are finished and schooled up near structure part way back in creeks. This is a good time to fish around the docks in Middle Pigeon. Channel catfish are biting on jugs on about anything. I prefer live Bluegill about 3-inches long. Overall the lake is in excellent condition and at a good level for fishing and Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental is in excellent condition for visiting and has the best price on both cabins and boat rentals in the Ozarks. You can get a 1-bedroom cabin for $69/day and a 2-bedroom for $89/day. 3&4 bedrooms are priced accordingly. A free stall for your boat comes with a cabin rental of two days or more at out big dock and you can launch and park right here. No need to go anywhere else. We have it all and at the best price and are closest to Mountain Home, dining and shopping. The money you save by staying here can off-set the high gas prices so you can have an affordable vacation. We especially welcome Veterans and Police. Call Debbie at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. It is nice here and the price is right.
